Brothel closed down in Histon Road |

Dear Resident, I wanted to share the outcome of a recent investigation which has resulted in a Cambridge woman being sentenced for controlling prostitution for financial gain. The case began after concerns were raised about anti-social behaviour and frequent visitors to a property in Histon Road. Neighbourhood officers and investigators worked together to establish what was happening, and enquiries ultimately uncovered evidence that vulnerable women were being exploited for another person's financial benefit. Through searches, examination of mobile phones and financial enquiries, we built a clear picture of the offending and secured a guilty plea. The woman responsible has now been given a suspended prison sentence and ordered to carry out unpaid work. Cases like this can be complex and often involve individuals who may themselves be vulnerable or at risk of exploitation. Our priority is not only to bring offenders to justice, but also to work with partner agencies to safeguard those who may need help and support. I'd like to thank members of the public whose concerns helped bring this matter to our attention. Community information plays a vital role in helping us identify criminal activity and protect those at risk. If you have concerns about exploitation, suspicious activity or someone you believe may be vulnerable, please report it to us. Your information could make a real difference. You can read more about the sentence here. Detective Constable Steph Barnes-Dunlop Cambridgeshire Constabulary | ||
